Son of a sculptor born in Worcestershire 1965, Giles formative years were spent in a caravan in a beautiful rural location. As a child, the names of the birds and trees were as all consuming to him as the collection and collation of words.
Through school, words, language and music continued to be the tools that he took to most naturally. Post school, a lengthy stint in the fast forming embryonic computer industry taught Giles an immense amount about industry business, the work place and the supreme importance of communication.
In 1997 he formed the ‘Land’ band with Jonn Farr in Dorset and was lucky enough to work with Nicky James (aka former moody blues) and the highly esteemed and skilled engineer Nick Beere.
In 2000 Giles took to the road living amongst the travelling community which eventually led to Tintagel, Cornwall where in 2003 with former partner Phoebe Thomasson he formed ‘Mendy’.
With Mendy gaining local popularity, regular BBC air play and such slots as the Levellers ‘Beautiful Days’ festival, Giles was soon recruited by old school dance trance act ‘Astralasia’. Through Astralasia Giles has been privileged to work alongside such artists as Steve Hillage, Eat Static, Here and Now, Nick Turner, Simon House and Arthur Brown to name a few.
As a result of the close relationship formed with producer and friend ‘Swordfish’, Giles’ voice was put to work in numerous low tone styles.
2010 brings the launch of new band venture Quantum Quest ........just the beginning friends.......
On stage, Giles is a potent and formidable presence with his performances often described as Shamanic.
He is affectionately known on the Tintagel music scene as ‘The Magic Man’.
His fascination for the quantum world, nature and the ultimate possibilities of belief to create a bright future is clear in his studio work.
